If you don’t know our story, we have had two miscarriages (one in July 2016 & another in March 2017) with no live babies yet! We definitely want to start a family so we decided to take the next step and go to a fertility clinic and see a specialist.
Testing Earlier This Year
In May of this year, we saw an endocrinologist who told me that I have diminished ovarian reserve (DOR). Basically my ovaries and eggs are the age of a 49 year old woman. The doctor told us the chances of us conceiving naturally is slim. He also said that with every pregnancy we have a higher chance of miscarriage. He suggested I start taking DHEA. The DHEA has been shown to increase egg quality but it’s not 100% guarantee.
We Made The Appointment
Fast forward to the end of September. We moved to Vegas and decided that we wanted to pursue a more aggressive treatment since we had not gotten pregnant yet. I called to make appointment with Red Rock Fertility and they said soonest they could see us was November 1. It seemed far off but we waited this long, we could wait a little over a month! A few days later, they called us and told us that they could see us in 2 days!
Our appointment was on September 26 and we met with Dr. Littman. We told her what the previous doctor had said and she wanted to run repeat blood work to see if I really do have DOR. Apparently you have to take that test on day 3 of your menstrual cycle and my previous doctor didn’t so she said I might be okay! She also wanted us to schedule tests for a day 3 follicle count ultrasound (day 3 of menstrual cycle) and HSG for myself. She also wanted my partner to run some tests also. Dr. Littman said that she is hopeful she can get us a baby! We are definitely excited to see what the next steps are!
Stay tuned for my next post on this series to see what happens next!
