So it’s been a while since my last post. Around the same time I posted about going to the fertility clinic, I found out I was pregnant! I honestly didn’t know what to post next since I was hoping to document my journey with the fertility clinic but we ended up getting pregnant naturally. Here’s what’s been going on!
Finding Out I Was Pregnant
After our fertility clinic appointment on September 25, the doctor ordered a bunch of tests to be ran but I had to wait to do them until my period came. Luckily my period was scheduled to come on October 1, so I wouldn’t have to wait that long. October 1 came and my period didn’t show up so I decided to test. I was so surprised when I got a positive! I texted Nicki and Brandi freaking out because I didn’t think I’d see a positive yet. After I composed myself a bit (and after taking about 4 more tests), I woke up Sean and told him. He didn’t believe me at first and thought I was crazy but after showing him the 5 tests, he believed me!
I contacted the fertility clinic and they started me on progesterone after confirming the pregnancy. Since we literally just moved to Vegas not too long ago, I didn’t have a ObGYN yet. The fertility clinic said they would see me up until 10 weeks at which point I’d need to transfer to an Ob. That gave me some time to get my health insurance transferred from California to Nevada and find an Ob.
The Next 6 Weeks
During those 6 weeks, we got 2 ultrasounds (one at 7 weeks and the second at 9 weeks). The first time I was SO nervous because of our history of miscarriages. However, I think the second was even more nerve wracking because the last pregnancy we saw the baby and at the second ultrasound we found out it stopped growing. When we saw that the baby had grown exactly 2 weeks from the last appointment, I cried. I was so elated.
After my 2 ultrasounds at the fertility clinic I had my Ob in place. We got to see the baby again at around 10 weeks and the doctor said everything looked good! We have never made it this far! We both liked our Ob as well.
How I Felt
The first 11 weeks was so hard on me. I was tired all the time and nauseated when I wasn’t sleeping. I had no appetite and lost about 8lbs. At 12 weeks I all of a sudden felt great and kind of freaked out. So I went to one of those independent ultrasound places and paid for an ultrasound ($25). I got to see the baby again and for the first time had an abdominal ultrasound versus the transvaginal I had been having. I got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and I was so emotional.
We are not sure if it was the progesterone or the DHEA I was taking but whatever helped us get this far, we are so grateful. I’m looking forward to documenting this journey to motherhood with you all!
